Bulgaria and U.S. Embassy Sofia Sign Letter of Intent for Cooperation in Healthcare

Health impacts all facets of life of every Bulgarian. The U.S. Embassy looks forward to partnering with the Bulgarian government to enhance the quality of life of its citizens by combatting infectious diseases, discussing best practices for e-health initiatives, and promoting educational exchanges of medical professionals.

On Friday, June 26, 2020 Ambassador Herro Mustafa and Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev signed a Letter of Intent for Cooperation in Healthcare between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health. The agreement will cover an initial five-year period which may be extended by mutual decision.

Both countries agreed to expand their healthcare dialogue to a strategic level that builds on our cooperation to address the COVID-19 challenge. The parties will collaborate in several priority healthcare areas such as best practices for prevention and treatment of infectious diseases; e-health initiatives; and exchanges for training of medical professionals.

Ambassador Mustafa and Minister Ananiev noted the importance of a predictable, open, and transparent regulatory framework encouraging foreign investment, promoting fair competition and intellectual property rights protection, and facilitating greater two-way trade and investment and promoting economic growth.
