Cultural Attaché Paltchikov Visits the Training Center in GudevitsaEducational and Cultural Attaché Tammy Paltchikov visited the training center in the village of Gudevitsa established by Future Now on July 28. Member of the U.S. Ambassador’s Youth Council Teodor Vassilev is one of the founders and key players in implementation of this project. The camp gives children aged 8 – 16 a chance to experience nature and work on their personal development though non-formal learning.

During her visit to Smolyan on July 28-29, Education and Cultural Attaché Tammy Paltchikov met with Deputy Regional Governor Andrian Petrov to discuss issues related to culture, education and youth as well as opportunities for joint future projects. After her meeting with Mr. Petrov, she visited the local history museum and the library where she met with a group of young children taking part in an educational art program.

Legendary Bulgarian folk singer Valya Balkanska shares her love of Rhodope and music with an impromptu song during a visit of the Educational and Cultural Attaché Tammy Paltchikov in Smolyan.  Her recording of the song “Izlel e Delyu Haydutin” is part of the Voyager Golden record selection of music included in the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977.
