Educational and Cultural Attaché Tammy Paltchikov visited several 9th grade literature classes at the American College of Sofia (ACS). Lively discussions of “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “The Diary of a Young Girl”, and “Night” highlighted lessons from the past that show the importance of tolerance and inclusion in a peaceful society. Utilizing quotes and analysis, students enthusiastically shared their viewpoints on the major characters, themes, and literary techniques and how it relates to our modern lives. One of the oldest American educational institutions outside the United States, ACS celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2010. The college aims to provide Bulgarian youth with the best possible education, including fluency in English, and to instill in them high standards of morality and integrity.
