
Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken is visiting Bulgaria May 6th and 7th. While in Sofia, Blinken will meet Bulgaria’s President Rosen Plevneliev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov, Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev, and civil society representatives to discuss the partnership between Bulgaria and the United States.
Second in rank in the U.S. Department of State after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Blinken has held senior foreign policy positions in two administrations over two decades. He most recently served as Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor for President Barak Obama. He has also worked closely with Vice President Joe Biden and President Bill Clinton.
