Position:                                Student Intern Computer Programmer

Opening Date:                       March 13, 2019

 Work Hours:                          Flexible work schedule (minimum 20 hours/week)

 Duration of Internship:         Duration to be determined on individual basis (minimum four months)   

 The Regional Support Center at the U.S. Embassy in Sofia is looking to recruit a student intern.

If you are a budding programmer who likes to solve tough problems;  you like working with people from different countries on a group project; you are interested in getting to know the world of embassies, international organizations and diplomacy; you are familiar with .Net, C#, CSS, JavaScript, or Git, make sure to submit your application.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Present enrollment in a university with clear intent to continue studying through the time of the internship;
  • Good working level English language speaking/reading/writing ability;
  • Experience in a professional work environment (e.g. previous internship or clerical work) is preferred.
  • Computer programming – knowledge of one or more of the following: Microsoft .NET, C#, JavaScript, CSS, and Git source control.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start and take initiative.

Eligibility criteria:  Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.  Only students who are non-U.S. citizens in Bulgaria or Bulgarian students studying abroad are eligible for the intern program, including any foreign nationals who are legal resident students in Bulgaria. Applicant must be a student in good academic standing.  Applicant must have demonstrated the potential to accomplish the type of work to be performed.  Applicant should be able to provide a certified document from the educational institution that the student is enrolled.  If selected, the student must pass a background check and receive security and medical certifications before commencement of the internship.
