Protest Advisory

Pro-Nazi and Nationalist Groups to March and Protest on Saturday, February 18, 2017

The Embassy has been informed of a planned march and protest through parts of the city on Saturday, February 18th.  The organizers of the protest plan to march from NDK to 1 Trakiya St., approximately during the hours of 1700 to 2100.  Information on the subject of the protest march, Hristo Lukov, can be found here.

U.S. citizens are advised to be alert and remain vigilant. Events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.

Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, monitor local news stations for updates, and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the Embassy.
