The Embassy has been informed of a planned protest directly across Kozyak Street from the Embassy’s main entrance the afternoon of Wednesday, September 20, 2017. The Friends of Russia and the Orthodox World plans to stage a protest between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm. The embassy will be open for normal services but advises U.S. citizens to avoid the area.
U.S. citizens are advised to be alert and remain vigilant. Events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, monitor local news stations for updates, and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the Embassy.
