Protest in front of U.S. Embassy

Monday, April 10, 2017

The Embassy has been informed of a planned protest directly across Kozyak Street from the Embassy’s main entrance this afternoon, Monday, April 10, 2017.  The Association of Syrians in Sofia plans to stage an anti-U.S. protest between the hours of 4 pm and 6 pm.  The embassy remains open but advises U.S. citizens to avoid the area.

U.S. citizens are advised to be alert and remain vigilant. Events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  You should avoid areas of demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.

Review your personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, monitor local news stations for updates, and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the Embassy.
