U.S. Embassy Sofia informs U.S. citizens of a planned protest of motorcyclists in front of the Sofia Courthouse on Tuesday, August 9 at 1900 hrs. The protesters seek justice following the death of two Bulgarian motorcyclists killed in a vehicular accident on July 24th. Further reports indicate this protest will also be carried out in other major Bulgarian cities in front of their respective courthouses Wednesday, August 10 at 1900 hrs.
Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
