While attending a conference about issues affecting Roma around Europe, diplomats from 11 U.S. embassies, representatives from international and Bulgarian-based organizations that deal with human rights and, more specifically, Roma issues, and friends expressed their support for the truth that Roma are equal.
A group of U.S. diplomats from 11 countries traveled to the Roma neighborhood in Kyustendil where they met with the Largo Association and visited the local kindergarten and health center. The hosts from the Largo Association discussed their experience in improving the social, health and educational status of the Roma population and shared the challenges in working with the local and central authorities.
