Yesterday, May 10, we were visited in the Embassy by the Bulgarian Institute of Cryobiology and Food Technology which develops contemporary technologies for cryopreservation of biologic materials. Bulgaria is one of the biggest manufacturers of “space” food, with the Bulgarian “space” menu being currently in use by many space programs across the world. Not only did we have the chance to hear the interesting account of NASA astronaut Richard Linnehan about his four missions in space, but we also had a taste of favorite foods like yogurt, meatball soup, chicken and peas, and rice pudding…out of a “space package.”
