During the COVID-19 global outbreak Embassy Sofia is required to issue a MASCOT message to all Americans advising when a U.S. Government-arranged flight to the U.S. has seats available.  Three U.S. Government-arranged flights are stopping in Sofia this week on their way back to the United States from other destinations.  These flights are standard flights and not evacuation flights.

U.S. Mission Sofia continues to appreciate the Government of Bulgaria’s commitment to keeping Sofia International Airport open for international flights.  U.S. Government-arranged flights use layovers at Sofia International Airport opportunity to refuel.  These flight stops help provide income to Sofia International Airport and contribute to sustaining Bulgaria’s economy.
