On June 22 the White House extended a Proclamation halting issuance of new J visas through December, 2020.
- This proclamation does not apply to persons who already hold a U.S. visa issued prior to 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on June 24, 2020.
- The Proclamation is not retroactive. No valid visas will be revoked under this Proclamation.
- Due to precautions and limited resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic, routine visa processing at U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide remains suspended, though the Department is continually evaluating the presence of conditions necessary to resume.
