23 American military cadets, and 3 U.S. officers, volunteered their time and effort to repaint the fence and basketball backboards at Dimcho Debelyanov High School in Burgas last weekend. The cadets are in Bulgaria participating in a Culture and Leadership Proficiency Program supported by U.S. Embassy Sofia’s Office of Defense Cooperation. This community volunteering project is an important part of their cultural exchange experience, and contributing to a local host community is one of the tenets of American military leadership abroad. These cadets are learning to share America’s tradition of community service. The United States ARMY Cadet Command provided the paint and project materials.
