U.S. Embassy Helps Build New Kitchen and Dining Facility for Hristo Botev Primary School in the Village of Lopyan, Municipality of Etropole

On Thursday, May 26, Amb. Eric Rubin of the U.S. Embassy to Bulgaria and Etropole Mayor Mr. Dimitar Dimitrov will inaugurate the newly built Kitchen and dining facility for Hristo Botev Primary School in the village of Lopyan, Etropole Municipality.

The construction of the brand new facility in the village of Lopyan is the result of close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation, the Municipality of Etropole and the staff of Hristo Botev School. The U.S. Government invested $177,000 USD to build the facility, which will accommodate 161 students and staff.

In the last five years, the U.S. government has invested more than $3.7 million USD in this and similar Humanitarian Assistance Program projects in Bulgaria. These projects bring together American and Bulgarian military troops, who jointly volunteer their labor.  Also under this program, the U.S. government partners with non-governmental organizations and local Bulgarian firms to fulfill these projects in accordance with Bulgaria’s social and economic development strategy.

Media are invited to cover the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will take place at Hristo Botev Primary School, from 11 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26. The school is located in the  village of Lopyan.
