On Wednesday, November 4, Martina Strong, Charge D’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, and Pazardzhik Mayor Mr. Todor Popov will inaugurate the recently renovated Kalina Malina Kindergarten in the Municipality of Pazardzhik.
This renovation of the largest kindergarten in the municipality of Pazardzhik is the result of close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation, the Municipality of Pazardzhik, and the staff of the Kalina Malina Kindergarten. The U.S. Government invested over $150,000 USD to renovate six bathrooms and kitchenettes, the gym, a playground, and the sewage system.
In the last five years, the U.S. government has invested more than $3 million USD in this and similar Humanitarian Assistance Program projects in Bulgaria. These projects often bring together American and Bulgarian military troops, who jointly volunteer their labor. Also under this program, the U.S. government partners with non-governmental organizations and local Bulgarian firms to fulfill these projects in accordance with Bulgaria’s social and economic development strategy.
