On Wednesday, December 9, Col. James Crowhurst, Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, and Levski Mayor Mrs. Lyubka Aleksandrova will inaugurate the recently renovated Levski Kindergarten in the Municipality of Levski.

This renovation of the largest kindergarten in the municipality of Levski is the result of close cooperation between the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation, the Municipality of Levski, and the staff of the Slantse Kindergarten. The U.S. Government invested $117,000 USD to renovate the bathrooms and kitchenettes in all four groups, the main kitchen, the medical office and the playground.

These projects bring together American and Bulgarian military troops, who jointly volunteer their labor.  Also under this program, the U.S. government partners with non-governmental organizations and local Bulgarian firms to fulfill these projects in accordance with Bulgaria’s social and economic development strategy.
