U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria, Eric S. Rubin and Deputy Mayor of Plovdiv Stefan Stoyanov inaugurated the renovated building of Dusho Hadjidekov Primary School during a ribbon cutting ceremony today.
The United States Government invested USD 94,000 to renovate the Primary School which is one of the oldest in Plovdiv and accommodates 883 students from 1st thru 7th grade while providing jobs to 65 staff. The renovations include repainting and reinforcing of the entire exterior of the historical building, modernization of the electrical system, repainting the windows and installation of a canopy at the front entrance.
Since 2010, the U.S. government has invested approximately $6 million in Humanitarian Assistance projects in Bulgaria. The Humanitarian Assistance Program brings together American military troops and Bulgarian municipalities to collaborate on significant projects. Under this program, the U.S. government also partners with non-governmental organizations and local Bulgarian firms to carry out projects in accordance with Bulgaria’s social and economic development strategy.
